Game Day! Our Guide to World Cup Entertaining

No matter what team your guests are rooting for, follow these tips for hosting a great World Cup party, and everyone will come out a winner!

With the world cup in full swing, these entertaining ideas will help both seasoned pros and promising rookies plan the ultimate World Cup party because what’s better than football, food and good friends?

The Big Screen

It should go without saying, but in the world of cable and streaming, just double check you can actually show the game before you invite family and friends over.

Food, Glorious Food

We all know the great unifier of World Cup parties is the food. We suggest a buffet set-up so guests can grab and graze when they’re feeling hungry and during half-time.

Present dishes on large platters , trays and charger plates so guests can help themselves. Dishes that don’t need to stay warm (think charcuterie and cheese boards) are always a winner. Meanwhile, fresh guacamole is always a crowd-pleaser and looks beautiful dished up in our serving bowls . Pile popcorn into our porcelain pots for mid-match easy snacking.

Quench Their Thirst

Serve up pre-made mocktails and fresh juices in pitchers and jugs so guests can refill their drinks as and when they like. Earn extra points for mixing drinks to match the colors of the teams playing – think watermelon, lemon and lime, mint etc.

Do Decor

While flowers might not make the cut on match day, don’t scrimp on décor. Add some greenery and freshness to your tablespace with plants and succulents (personally, we think they look best in our vibrant and statement-making porcelain pots ). And, if the game is going to coincide with sunset, don’t forget to scatter some candles around the entertaining space – not only will it give your soiree a warm glow, but choose the right scent, and you might just be able to calm game-day nerves too.
